John Teed, President and Chief Estimator
Mr. Teed is a Red Seal Master Carpenter by trade with thirty-seven years in the construction industry. This includes five years as a Commercial Construction Superintendent and twenty-seven years directly working in the flooring industry in sales, estimating and job coordination. This combined construction and flooring experience gives him a greater insight into the requirements needed for a structurally viable and sound installation within the parameters of a project’s scope of work. His experience as a Construction Superintendent allows him to see the project from many perspectives. John is a member of the board of directors for the Alberta Floor Covering Association and also sits on the board of directors of the Calgary Construction Association. His participation in these organizations allows him to keep up with industry issues and innovations and take an active role in his industry.
Mr. Teed is an Alberta Certified Peer Health & Safety Auditor. In 2010 Mr. Teed received his Gold Seal Certification for Project Management – Carpet and Resilient Flooring. As President and Chief Estimator of Universal Flooring, Mr. Teed has spent the last 14 years building on the already strong relationships established many years previously in both the general construction and flooring industry. He is a hands-on entrepreneur who works closely with his staff and customers in all facets of a project from start to finish.
Jo-Anne Teed, Office Manager/Accounting
As co-owner of Universal Flooring, Jo-Anne Teed has worked as Office and Accounting Manager since the company’s inception in November 1997. Mrs. Teed is responsible for accounts payable and receivable as well as the implementation of office procedures and programs. Besides being active in the day-to-day operation of the company, Jo-Anne is Vice-President of the Alberta Floor Covering Association and is currently Vice-President of the National Floor Covering Association – both organizations that work to strengthen the flooring industry through skills advancement and training. Jo-Anne also sits on the Provincial Apprenticeship Committee for the Floor Covering Trade and works closely with Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training to continue the development of floor covering apprenticeship training in the province.
Susan Shipley, Senior Estimator, Residential and Commercial Projects
Ms. Shipley has 7 years experience in the flooring industry. Combining her eye for colour and design with excellent customer relations skills and knowledge of both the commercial and residential flooring business, Susan provides our clients with excellent sales and estimating services. She provides Project Management services to our commercial clients and is currently working toward her Canadian Construction Association Gold Seal Certification in Flooring Project Management.
Terrence Bruce, Estimator, Commercial Projects
Mr. Bruce joined Universal Flooring in Sept 2008. His previous experience in the furniture sales and installation industry made an excellent stepping stone for his advancement within Universal Flooring. With three years experience working in commercial flooring projects both in material logistics and sales and estimating, Terrence works on both site measures and digitized take-offs for projects.
Rudi Holler, Service Coordinator/Safety Manager
Mr. Holler is a Certified Journeyman Installation Mechanic with twenty-three years experience in flooring installation. He brings a vast knowledge of installation and on-site supervisory experience along with strong communication skills to his position. Mr. Holler has completed the Leadership for Safety Excellence course offered by Alberta Occupational Health and Safety and is working toward his Safety Auditor designation. He has also received his accreditation as a WHMIS Trainer. Along with his Journeyman Certification, he is also certified in Armstrong Commercial Flooring installation, Nora Rubber installation and is a Forbo Master Mechanic. Rudi’s duties at Universal Flooring include crew scheduling, liaison with construction managers and site superintendents and site and office safety.
Jordan Teed, Marketing and Communications
As Marketing and Communications Manager Jordan Teed has been instrumental in the re-design and increased functionality of our new interactive website. He will be providing client support and instruction in the use of the new budget pricing function which has been developed to assist project managers and design personnel with preliminary budget information for anticipated projects. Jordan will continue to play a role in Universal Flooring’s continuing research into and implementation of flooring products reclamation options.
Carol Morrison, Clerical Support and Inside Sales
Mrs. Morrison has been with Universal Flooring since 2006. Carol has long been associated with businesses in the construction and flooring industry. She brings her knowledge of the industry and combines it with her excellent communication, organizational and customer service skills to round out the combined skills of the Universal Flooring team. Mrs. Morrison handles telephone and reception duties, inside sales and clerical support.
